About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for an OB/GYN physician to provide inpatient hospital-based coverage. The physician will be responsible for managing routine and complicated deliveries, including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, breech presentations, multiple births, and abruptions. The role also involves conducting VBACs and repairing third and fourth-degree perineal lacerations. The physician will utilize the EPIC EMR system and will have access to onsite lab and ultrasound facilities. The position requires 6-7 days of coverage per month, with potential for additional days, and includes both in-house and beeper/phone call responsibilities. The average daily census is 1-6 adult patients, with approximately 700-800 total deliveries annually. Midwives will handle their own patient caseload and be responsible for call duties.

Requirements

  • Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (mandatory).
  • Active Kentucky medical license or participation in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) (mandatory).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory).
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration (mandatory).

Responsibilities

  • Management of routine vaginal deliveries, including low forceps deliveries.
  • Clinical decision-making for cesarean sections.
  • Handling complicated deliveries, including C-sections, breech presentations, multiple births, and abruptions.
  • Conducting vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).
  • Repair of third and fourth-degree perineal lacerations.
  • EMTALA call coverage.
