About The Position

This position involves admitting, treating, and discharging patients to the hospital, ensuring timely completion of medical records and encounter forms. The physician will be responsible for appropriate coding, complying with government and third-party regulations, and effectively communicating health status and treatment plans to patients and their families. This role also includes prescribing and explaining medications, reviewing patient data, cooperating with other physicians, and participating in medical staff activities, quality management, and in-service education. The physician will adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA), and guidelines, while also seeking cost containment methods. Additional responsibilities include adhering to downtime procedures, departmental policies, safe work practices, and embodying the mission and values of Humboldt Park Health. Responsibilities

  • Admit, treat, and discharge patients to the hospital in accordance with established policies/procedures.
  • Prepare and sign hospital medical records and related reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete and submit all encounter forms on a timely basis.
  • Ensure appropriate level of coding and comply with government and third party regulations regarding documentation, including teaching physician rules.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining health status and treatment plans clearly.
  • Respond to patient needs, including timely response to patient phone calls.
  • Properly prescribe medication, document this information in the patient chart, and explain usage and side effects to the patient.
  • Review and initial all incoming labs, X-rays, and consultative reports, making necessary adjustments to patient treatment.
  • Cooperate with other physicians employed by the Hospital in regard to providing services to patients and on-call schedule.
  • Attend regularly scheduled office hours, mutually agreed upon by HPH and Physician.
  • Participate in regular medical staff activities and staff responsibilities, including attendance at required meetings, in-service education, staff development, and quality management activities.
  • Demonstrate concern for quality performance and exercise initiative to suggest change/improvements.
  • Report incidents pursuant to HPH’s policy and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Attend all hospital mandatory in-services and education days.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining quality management activities.
  • Perform duties according to approved policies and procedures relating to Joint Commission, OSHA, Universal Body Fluid presentations and other regulatory body standards.
  • Comply with HPH Clinic guidelines and policies/procedures.
  • Submit inpatient and outpatient charges with appropriate documentation on a timely basis.
  • Seek methods for cost containment and act upon them.
  • Adhere to downtime procedures.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Perform both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and model the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
  • Enhance professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
