About The Position
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine seeks a hospitalist for full-time faculty Hospitalist & Nocturnist positions. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV and Fairmont, WV, with potential assignments in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, requiring travel. This role involves practicing Internal Medicine/Hospitalist Medicine, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and providing night coverage primarily for admissions with cross-coverage responsibilities. The section offers opportunities to manage a wide variety of patients and collaborate with extensive consultation support.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
- Eligible for state medical license.
- Completed an Internal Medicine residency program.
- Board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
- 26 weeks annually of clinical duties.
Responsibilities
- Practice in the areas of Internal Medicine / Hospitalist Medicine.
- Provide excellent patient care.
- Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Provide night coverage primarily for admissions with cross coverage responsibilities.
- Manage a wide variety of patients including cardiovascular, oncology, end stage renal disease, long-term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, and post-acute care patients.
- Teach residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in a one-on-one setting and on rounding teams.
- Cover inpatient consults for the Department of Medicine.
