West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurosurgery seek a Neurosurgeon qualified at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Weirton, WV. As a full member of the WVU Health System (WVUHS), Weirton Medical Center (WMC) is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. WMC is in the Northern panhandle of WV and serves not only West Virginia but Eastern Ohio and the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two additional System hospitals provide service in this region. Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV, is 30 miles south with 247 beds while Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV, 40 miles away, has 94 beds. Wheeling Hospital currently has two full-time Neurosurgeons, focusing on spine care and general neurosurgery. This position would align closely with the practice based in Wheeling and could potentially provide some call coverage at Wheeling as they pursue level 2 trauma status.
