About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Stroke fellowship-trained Neurologist (Non-Interventional) to join our Comprehensive Stroke Center. This role involves providing inpatient hospital coverage, as well as ED and tele-stroke coverage. The position offers opportunities to contribute to the Neurology Residency program, which began in 2023, and to serve as clinical faculty for the USD Sanford School of Medicine. The Neurology Core Privileges include performing history and physical examinations, admitting patients (if applicable), providing consultative services, and evaluating, diagnosing, and providing nonsurgical care to patients of all ages with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the neurologic system.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Neurology residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
