About The Position

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is partnering with California Pacific Medical Center's Transplant Program to find a full-time, BC/BE Transplant Hepatologist physician. This role will serve as the Medical Director of Living Donor Liver Transplant, leading the development of the liver donor liver transplant program. The Division of Hepatology consists of 10 transplant hepatologists engaged in clinical care, research, education, and advocacy. California Pacific Medical Center is a 274-bed hospital in San Francisco, serving as a tertiary/quaternary hospital for the Sutter network and a referral center for Northern California and Nevada. The program also operates 10 regional liver clinics. The Division of Hepatology cares for a diverse patient population with general and transplant hepatology needs. CPMC's Transplant Program has over 50 years of experience in solid organ transplantation, performing 96 cadaveric donor liver transplants in 2025. The division has active clinical programs in various liver conditions and is involved in clinical trials, research, and NIH-funded studies. Hepatologists are core faculty for the Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology fellowships at CPMC. The clinical activities are well-supported by administrative and nursing staff.

Requirements

• BC/BE in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.
• Active or eligible for a California Medical License.

• 3-5 years of experience with living donor liver transplant preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the liver donor liver transplant program as Medical Director of Living Donor Liver Transplant.
• Provide clinical care to a diverse patient population with general hepatology and transplant hepatology needs.
• Engage in clinical trials, clinical research, and NIH-funded studies.
• Serve as core faculty for the ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology fellowships.
• Contribute to teaching, research, innovation, mentorship, leadership, and community engagement.
