About The Position

Vighter is recruiting an Internal Medicine Physician to serve at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at and around Fort Hood, TX. This role delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and Vighter clinical policies. The physician functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, supporting quality care delivery, clinical documentation, and continuity of care in a secure and highly regulated setting. Vighter is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) which provides professional healthcare staffing services to Federal, State, and Local government clients. Requirements

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
  • Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification as identified in the base contract
  • Shall possess a minimum of two (2) years of post-residency clinical experience within the last three (3) years providing direct patient care in internal medicine.
  • Experience must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing adult patients across a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical standards of practice.
  • Background shall reflect competency in both outpatient and inpatient internal medicine settings, including development of treatment plans, coordination of care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Board eligible or board certified.
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for adult patients.
  • Performs diagnosis and treatment of the more complex internal medicine problems referred.
  • Apply advanced professional knowledge of areas within the field of internal medicine to include, but not limited to, hematology, cardiology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, and nephrology.
  • May serve as attending physician of the inpatient consult service by providing advice on perioperative management and management of other acute medical problems.
  • Provide high-quality standards of care as mandated by the Joint Commission and appropriate DHA, CRDAMC, and local regulations and policies.
  • Interacts with emergency department, clinics, other hospitals, and other specialty services to facilitate the transfer of patients into and out of the ward and observation units.
  • Performs and interprets medical procedures to include, but not limited to, thoracentesis, central venous line placement, arterial blood gas sampling, paracentesis, nasogastric and feeding tube placement, joint aspiration and injection, graded exercise testing and lumbar puncture and interprets procedures such as electrocardiograms and pulmonary function tests.
  • May be used as hybrid physician with both inpatient and outpatient duties, as determined by Department Chief.
  • Exchange advice and consultation with other physicians on the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the area of Internal Medicine.
  • Performs procedures to include, but not limited to, joint aspiration or injections, sigmoidoscopies, gastroscopies, proctoscopies.
  • Refers patients to other specialty clinics for further evaluation on outpatient and/or inpatient basis.
  • Perform ambulatory and acute care for patients as well as long term chronic and difficult patients.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays necessary to complete medical facts to include, but not limited to, blood counts, urinalysis, sedimentation rates, chest x-rays, and electrocardiograms.

  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
