About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine Eastern Campus seeks internists for multiple full-time faculty outpatient only positions. Ranks available are Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will practice in Berkeley County Medical Center (BMC) or Jefferson County Medical Center (JMC). Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Internal Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and will take an active role in the new internal medicine residency program. This position is with the academic outpatient internal medicine department at WVU Medicine. A growing academic Internal Medicine section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities with internal medicine residents and medical students in an outpatient clinical setting. Internal Medicine faculty will also participate in didactic conferences and have access to scholarly and research opportunities. The primary hospital is Berkeley Medical Center, a 200-bed teaching hospital in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, with a 19-bed ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology, and the full range of medical and surgical consultative services. There are active Neurosurgical, Cardiovascular, and Oncology programs via our Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Heart and Vascular Institute, and Cancer Institute, respectively. Additional tertiary care support is provided by a strong collaborative relationship with Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia’s first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children’s Hospital in September 2022. Requirements

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligible for state medical license.
  • Completed an Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
