About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine physician to join their growing team at Sanford Health Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. This is an established practice with two physicians and three nurse practitioners who provide geriatrics services at local long-term care and assisted living facilities. The clinic operates Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the option to work 4 or 5 days a week and flexibility in start and end times. The call expectation is 7 weekends a year and 1 day per week, primarily for clinic call, with a hospitalist program available at the hospital. The practice is part of a multi-specialty group that includes audiology, behavioral health, dermatology, family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, surgery, urology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and outreach specialties from Fargo.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Experience can be demonstrated by providing a residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations (for new residency graduates).
  • Alternatively, applicants not applying directly out of residency must provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where they currently have privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including the number of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • Must demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services with at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months is required, demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
  • More education and experience may be required for more advanced practice.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultative services to adolescent and adult patients with common and complex illness, diseases and functional disorders of the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, and genitourinary systems.
