The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD). This role provides professional services related to the diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients and employees injured as a result of TDCJ-ID work-related activities. The Physician II ensures that appropriate healthcare is accessible and provided to the inmate population in a timely fashion, rendering final medical judgment regarding care provided to inmates assigned to the unit according to Health Services Policies and Procedures. This position directs all Health Services activities on the unit and assumes ultimate responsibility for all Health Services employees assigned to the unit. The role works under the general direction of the Regional Physician with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgment.
