Physician - Hospitalist - Zeeland, MI
About The Position
Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Hospitalist to join their team of 6 physicians and 6 advanced practice providers. This role will provide exceptional care for hospitalized individuals and families in Allegan & Ottawa Counties. Zeeland Hospitalists work days with a staffing model of two physicians and one APP caring for an average total census of 26 to 28, including up to 6 ICU beds. Nights are covered by a virtual nocturnist and an on-site APP. Some procedures and vent management are required, with a tela-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.
Requirements
- License – Michigan MD/DO
- BE/BC Internal Medicine Residency or Family Medicine Residency (with demonstrated strong inpatient experience)
- Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification - Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Responsibilities
- Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
- Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost-effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
- Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
- Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
- Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
- Acts as a patient/family advocate.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
