About The Position

Corewell Health South is seeking a full-time Hospitalist to join our team in Southwest Michigan. We desire candidates who are patient-centered and team-oriented. The Hospitalist Team provides 24/7 inpatient coverage at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital St. Joseph and Corewell Health Niles Hospital. This role utilizes a block-style schedule with providers rotating seven (7) consecutive days on followed by seven (7) days off. Shifts are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and 8:00 pm to 8:00 am. Epic electronic health record is used for documentation. The team includes adult medicine physicians and advanced practitioners, including dedicated nocturnists. Procedures are available but not required, and there is no intubation or vent management. Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital has a closed, 18-bed ICU and a 12-bed progressive care unit with 24/7 intensivist coverage. A variety of sub-specialists are available for referrals and collaboration opportunities on patient care. Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan, has a rich history and is a beacon of medical excellence, working to create an integrated system of care that is accessible, affordable, compassionate, and responsible. Our state-of-the-art facility, with more than 250 beds, includes a recent expansion creating more than 260,000 square feet of new space, providing an array of inpatient and ambulatory services. The newly renovated emergency departments include 34 patient beds, 12 observation beds, and additional treatment areas. Corewell Health in southwest Michigan is a teaching hospital, offering residencies and hosting medical students. Requirements

  • Doctorate
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan required

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including: assessment, diagnostic evaluation, on-going treatment and clinical management, necessary referral for consultation, care planning, management of medications/therapeutic orders, transfer authorization, and determination of readiness and planning for discharge in accordance with rules, regulations, professional or ethical standards of practice prevailing in the community applicable to physician’s applicable practice specialty.
  • Direct contact and consultation with patient, family members, friends, advocates, and other physicians and healthcare providers to ensure effective communication regarding patient status and plan of care.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all clinical and professional records and documentation to assure compliance with organization policies and local, state and federal regulatory, licensure and accreditation requirements.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and regulations set forth by Corewell Health South, Hospitalist Leadership, Medical Staff Bylaws, employment contract and the State of Michigan.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the continuous improvement of the patient experience, including patient safety, quality of care, professionalism and excellent service.
