Locum - Physician - Hematology Oncology
About The Position
This is a locum tenens position for a Physician specializing in Hematology Oncology. The role involves coverage in both inpatient and outpatient settings at a Trauma Level III facility. The physician will be the sole medical provider on-site, with no Advanced Practice Provider support. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics, with a case mix of approximately 70% oncology and 30% hematology. Internal Medicine cases are excluded. The outpatient clinic averages 12-25 patients daily, while inpatient rounding and call involve an average of 2-8 patients per day. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Epic. Temporary privileges can be processed within 3-14 days, with permanent privileges taking 2-3 months. Full travel expenses will be covered.
Requirements
- Board Certification in Medical Oncology (mandatory).
- Active Virginia Medical License (mandatory).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory).
Nice To Haves
- Board Certification in Hematology (highly preferred).
Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for inpatient and outpatient Hematology Oncology services.
- Manage an average of 12-25 outpatient patients per day.
- Manage an average of 2-8 inpatient patients per day, including rounding and hospital call.
- Utilize Epic EMR system for patient documentation.
- Work independently as the only physician on-site.
