About The Position

The West Virginia University School of Medicine Department of Medical Oncology and the WVU Cancer Institute are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join their growing statewide cancer network. This faculty opportunity is available at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will practice primarily at two locations, with approximately 60% of clinical effort based at Thomas Memorial Hospital and 40% at Jackson General Hospital. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding community-based practice while remaining connected to the resources and collaboration of an academic health system. Together, these sites serve communities with strong need for local access to high-quality cancer care and provide an excellent environment for a physician who values meaningful patient relationships, broad clinical practice, and visible impact. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care, including the diagnosis and management of both malignant and benign hematologic conditions. Responsibilities will include treatment planning, systemic therapy oversight, supportive care, survivorship care, and close coordination with multidisciplinary colleagues in other specialties. As part of an academic department, the position also includes opportunities to engage in teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates with interest in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development will find a supportive environment with access to the broader infrastructure of the WVU Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine network.
