About The Position

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a full-time fellowship-trained, board certified/board eligible Head and Neck Surgical Oncology/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgeon at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This role involves providing surgical and non-surgical management for patients with various head and neck conditions, including benign and malignant neoplasms of salivary origin, advanced cutaneous malignancies, head and neck mucosal neoplasms, and thyroid/parathyroid disorders. The position is part of a clinically and academically productive division within The University of Kansas Cancer Center, a Comprehensive NCI-Designated facility. Practice sites include The University of Kansas Health System, Kansas City VA, and University Health Medical Center, all located in Kansas City. The University of Kansas Health System serves as an academic and regional referral center, attracting patients from across the Midwest for advanced diagnosis and innovative treatments. Preference will be given to candidates with strong clinical and surgical experience, including transoral robotic surgery of the head and neck and microvascular reconstruction, as well as an interest in research, education of residents, medical students, and fellows, and scholarly activities. The division has a significant number of clinical trials and funded translational research, and the Department offers resources and infrastructure to support candidates who hold or have the potential to secure competitive external funding. Requirements

MD, DO or equivalent degree
Completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Otolaryngology
Must be Board Certified/Eligible in Otolaryngology
Fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction
Expertise in microvascular free tissue transfer and complex reconstruction of head and neck defects, including post-oncologic, traumatic, and congenital conditions
Experience in multidisciplinary management of patients with head and neck cancer, including ablative and reconstructive surgical care
Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri

Responsibilities

Provide surgical and non-surgical management of patients with benign and malignant neoplasms of salivary origin, advanced cutaneous malignancies, head and neck mucosal neoplasms and thyroid/parathyroid disorders.
Perform microvascular free tissue transfer and complex reconstruction of head and neck defects, including post-oncologic, traumatic, and congenital conditions.
Engage in the multidisciplinary management of patients with head and neck cancer, including ablative and reconstructive surgical care.
Conduct research, educate residents, medical students, and fellows, and engage in scholarly activities.
Participate in clinical trials and translational research.
