About The Position

The Gynecology Physician provides comprehensive, patient-centered gynecologic care in a hospital-owned outpatient clinic setting. This role includes direct patient care, clinical leadership, and participation in quality, safety, and compliance activities consistent with Joint Commission standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and applicable federal and state regulations. The physician practices within defined clinical privileges, maintains professional competency, and supports the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
  • Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Active, unrestricted Michigan medical license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
  • Eligible for medical staff privileges at the affiliated hospital(s).
  • Demonstrated competency in outpatient gynecologic care.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to perform essential clinical functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to move throughout the clinic, including exam rooms and procedure areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform clinical procedures for extended periods.
  • Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform clinical duties.
  • Ability to lift or assist patients or equipment with assistance as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training or specialized expertise (e.g., minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, urogynecology) preferred but not required.
  • Experience in hospital-affiliated or outpatient clinic practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive gynecologic care in accordance with established clinical privileges, standards of care, and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Deliver outpatient gynecologic services including, but not limited to: Well-woman examinations and preventive care, Contraception and family planning, Evaluation and management of acute and chronic gynecologic conditions.
  • Perform gynecologic procedures and surgeries consistent with granted privileges.
  • Evaluate and manage early pregnancy-related conditions within the scope of gynecologic services (e.g., miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy).
  • Provide scheduled and on-call phone triage and hospital-based gynecology coverage as required.
  • Provide medical direction and clinical oversight of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and other clinical staff in accordance with state law, organizational policy, and credentialing requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete medical records in the electronic health record in compliance with organizational, regulatory, and legal standards.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, preventive care, and health maintenance.
  • Provide counseling related to wellness, lifestyle modification, nutrition, and reproductive health.
  • Facilitate referrals to specialists, community resources, and support services as appropriate.
  • Practice in compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, patient safety initiatives, and risk management practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives as required.
  • Support accurate coding, billing documentation, and compliance with payer requirements.
  • Maintain all required licensure, certifications, and credentialing documentation in good standing.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing medical education, training, and ongoing performance evaluation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, committee work, and educational activities as required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and respectful communication in all interactions with patients, families, and staff.
  • Support a culture of safety, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with professional training, licensure, and scope of practice.
