About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is an opening for a general or advanced Gastroenterologist. The practice offers dedicated block time in 10 ORs, an outpatient practice setting, and a large referral base from primary care. The facility is equipped with DaVinci xi and DV5 robots, serves a population of 142,000, and includes a 118-bed hospital with a 14-bed ICU and a Level III trauma center.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency program.
• Completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
• Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
• Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
• Demonstrate active involvement in 50 gastroenterology cases in the last 12 months.
• If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s clinical activity for the last 12 months is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examinations.
• Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
• Provide consultative services.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and provide nonsurgical care to adolescent and adult patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the stomach, intestines, and related structures, such as the esophagus, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, including biopsies.

Benefits

• Compensation floor of $825,000 for the first two years of the employment contract, plus estimated potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs.
• $150,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 3 years (subject to a contractual agreement).
