About The Position
This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located in the Family Medicine Clinic at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized for candidates new to Federal service. Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service. Advanced In Hire (AIH) may be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Augusta is famous for its major attraction, The Masters Golf Tournament. Ft. Gordon has a moderate year-round climate and offers close proximity to metropolitan areas, beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian Mountains. The Augusta area is a growing community with an excellent quality of life. A wide variety of cultural and outdoor recreational activities are readily available locally, and many more are easily accessible from the coast to the mountains. Augusta has a vibrant professional medical environment, including the Medical College of Georgia and other referral medical centers. The cost of living is quite reasonable, with quality homes at good prices.
Requirements
- US Citizenship required.
- Board Certified in Family Medicine
- Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Responsibilities
- Perform emergency services or crisis intervention, including life-saving emergency procedures when necessary
- Independently diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments, and formulate evidence-based care plans.
- Provide advice by telephone and/or in person to medical staff on the care of patients.
- Promote preventive care, health maintenance, and patient education to encourage lifestyle changes.
- Participate in Quality Assurance, peer review, risk management, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and/ or boards.
