The Family Medicine Faculty role combines clinical and academic responsibilities, with a focus on training and supervising residents across the full scope of family medicine, including obstetrics. The faculty member works collaboratively with other faculty, residents, and healthcare teams. The physician provides direct care to a diverse patient panel in a continuity clinic, supervises and mentors residents in outpatient and inpatient settings, and performs family medicine procedures. The role includes 3–4 half-day clinical sessions per week, one half-day of didactic teaching, and three half-days dedicated to scholarly work, unless otherwise directed by the program director. The physician also participates in residency program activities such as meetings, curriculum development, and advising, and provides inpatient service coverage at least eight times per year. The role provides comprehensive family medicine care—including preventive, chronic, and acute care—across patients of all ages and sexes. Duties include prescribing and administering medications and routine vaccinations, ordering tests and follow-up visits, and referring patients to specialists as needed. The physician is expected to uphold SIHF Healthcare’s values and customer-service standards, comply with applicable laws, and understand and fulfill the responsibilities of the Patient Centered Medical Home.
