About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Emergency Medicine physician to join the team at Marshfield Medical Center - Stevens Point. This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) with 24-hour shifts, 3 shifts per month, totaling 800 hours per year. The role offers a strong work-life balance with over 20 days off per month, allowing ample time for outdoor recreation. Physicians are encouraged to participate in medical education and research. The department features brand-new equipment and a welcoming facility with dedicated support staff.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an Emergency Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • If not board certified at the time of application, must have completed residency training within the last five years and achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training unless waived.
  • Demonstrate active practice in the emergency department in the past 12 months with a census equal to or exceeding 3,000 patient visits annually, supported by residency logs or quality profiles from hospitals.
  • Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via waiver of eligibility process.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience can be demonstrated by a residency log, a quality profile from hospitals showing clinical activity for the past 12 months (including procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications), or documentation of hospital-based clinical activity for the past 12 months if a quality profile is not available.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose, perform history and physical examinations and provide initial treatment to patients of all age groups, who present to the emergency department with any symptom, illness, injury, or condition.
