About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Emergency Medicine physician to join the team at Marshfield Medical Center - Stevens Point. This is a 0.9 FTE position. The department is robust, featuring brand-new equipment and a welcoming environment with dedicated support staff. The scheduling model involves 24-hour shifts, 5 shifts per month, totaling 1,440 hours per year, promoting a good work-life balance with over 20 days off per month. Physicians are encouraged to participate in medical education and research.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in one of the following ways: residency log, or a quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 12 months (including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications).
  • Must demonstrate active practice in the emergency department in the past 12 months with a census equal to or exceeding 3,000 patient visits annually.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of hospital-based clinical activity for the past 12 months is required, showing practice in an emergency department with a census equal to or exceeding 3,000 visits annually.
  • Successful completion of an Emergency Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed residency training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.
  • Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose, perform history and physical examinations and provide initial treatment to patients of all age groups, who present to the emergency department with any symptom, illness, injury, or condition.
