About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a full-time Colorectal and General Surgery Physician to join an established, highly regarded practice in Duluth, Minnesota. This role is needed due to a planned retirement and will focus on colorectal surgery while also supplementing with general surgery cases. The practice is committed to providing comprehensive care and coordinating with necessary departments. The department is busy and includes general, robotic, endocrine, colorectal, breast, bariatric, advanced laparoscopic, endoscopy, and colonoscopy cases, with a large mix of cases. The position is based in a regional referral center with an ACS Cancer Center and a rural surgery residency training program. Surgeries and admissions occur at St. Mary’s Medical Center (a 380-bed tertiary hospital), Miller-Dwan Medical Center (a 175-bed Specialized Care Facility), and St. Mary’s Hospital Superior (a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital). The facility is HIMSS EMRAM Level 7 certified for both inpatient and ambulatory facilities and has an Accredited Trauma Program/Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

• BC/BE in General Surgery
• Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery
• ABCRS certified or eligible
• Proficient in the full spectrum of colorectal surgery
• Excellent clinical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong commitment to providing excellent, team-oriented care

Responsibilities

• Focus on colorectal surgery.
• Supplement practice with general surgery cases as needed.
• Provide comprehensive Colorectal and General Surgery care.
• Coordinate care with necessary departments.
