About The Position

Albany Medical college is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Colorectal Surgeon to join our team. The successful candidate will have an MD or equivalent, be Board eligible or Board certified in colon and rectal surgery, have completed a colorectal fellowship training program, and be eligible for a New York Medical License. The ideal candidate should have skills and experience in robotic surgery techniques, minimally invasive techniques and endoscopy. The candidate must have an interest in caring for complex patients with excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration with partners is expected. The candidate will also have an active role in the education and teaching of medical students and residents. The position comes with an academic appointment commensurate from experience. Requirements

  • MD or equivalent
  • Board eligible or Board certified in colon and rectal surgery
  • Completed a colorectal fellowship training program
  • Eligible for a New York Medical License
  • Skills and experience in robotic surgery techniques, minimally invasive techniques and endoscopy
  • Interest in caring for complex patients with excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration with partners
  • Active role in the education and teaching of medical students and residents
  • Board-certified/Board-eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery
  • Exceptionally skilled in robotic surgery and endoscopic procedures
  • Able to provide surgical case log indicating active current experience
  • Team oriented with ability to work and interact with residents, fellow physicians and administration, as well as provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients
  • Interested in participating in the academic mission of education, quality and research

Responsibilities

  • Practice consists of full spectrum of elective and emergent Colon-Rectal surgery including inflammatory bowel disease, ano-rectal disease, pelvic floor dysfunction, diverticulitis, colon cancer, and multi-disciplinary treatment of rectal cancer.
  • Collaborative approach to the surgical and non-surgical management of the full range of colorectal conditions, working with multidisciplinary partners throughout the organization – including gastroenterologists, geneticists, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, pathologists, urogynecologists and urologists
  • Access to state-of-the-art technology such as da Vinci Xi surgical robot
