About The Position

The Physician Clinical Systems Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Market Clinical Informatics Director and follows established policies and procedures. The role serves as an electronic medical record (EMR) system expert, primarily training clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently and proactively providing at-the-elbow support throughout the hospital. The specialist may also assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.

The position focuses on purposeful hospital rounding and direct support for providers and nurses, helping end users integrate the EMR into clinical workflows. It promotes consistent and effective EMR use in alignment with policies, procedures, and standards. The specialist may develop educational content about EMR changes, initiatives, and projects, and gathers clinician feedback and suggestions for communication to the Market Clinical Informatics Director. In collaboration with that director, the specialist works to improve clinician satisfaction with the EMR, promote the voice of the customer, and improve information-systems service and support.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and collaborate with clinicians.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve conflict.
• Understanding of clinical workflow and ability to integrate technology into clinical practice.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Must serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience in a clinical hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct purposeful hospital rounding and provide direct support to providers and nurses to help them successfully integrate the EMR into clinical workflows.
• Promote consistent and effective EMR use in accordance with policy, procedure, and standards.
• Create educational content as needed to communicate and educate providers and clinicians about EMR changes, initiatives, and projects.
• Solicit suggestions and feedback from physicians and clinicians about the EMR and communicate that information to the Market Clinical Informatics Director.
• Collaborate with the Market Clinical Informatics Director to improve clinician satisfaction with the EMR, promote the voice of the customer, and improve information-systems service and support.
• Train clinicians to use the Cerner EMR efficiently and proactively provide at-the-elbow support throughout the hospital.
• At times, assist with implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.
