About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join their team. The role involves daily assignments of clinic, EP consults, and EP lab work. The position is part of a progressive heart program with state-of-the-art facilities, including echo labs and an Electrophysiology Lab. The physician will perform history and physical examinations, admit, evaluate, treat, and consult on adult patients with heart rhythm disorders.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree
Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated Internal Medicine residency program of at least 3 years’ duration
Completion of a fellowship in Cardiology of at least 3 years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
Successful completion of an approved ACGME training program in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology that is 12 months in length and in addition to the Cardiology fellowship
Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
If not board certified at the time of application, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training unless waived by the governing Board
Demonstrated experience in specialized electrophysiology, cardiac pacing, and arrhythmia management through fellowship log or quality profile
For Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology skills, must demonstrate successful performance of 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations in the past 24 months (if not applying directly out of fellowship)
First 10 Cardiac Invasive/Interventional EP procedures performed under supervision of EP Lab Director or Physician Designee

Fellowship log meeting required COCATs training for specialized electrophysiology, cardiac pacing, and arrhythmia management
Quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications (if not applying directly out of fellowship)
Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered by the Credentials Committee, Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee, and the Board of Directors or Board of Governors.

Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examination
Admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to acute and chronically ill adult patients presenting with a variety of heart rhythm disorders
Perform procedures including ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and ablations
Conduct clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology procedures
Manage bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
Program and manage bradycardia pacing systems
Perform temporary pacing, Cardioversion, and complex arrhythmia electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation
Perform ablations, programmed electrical stimulation, endocardial mapping, and trans-septal catheterization
