About The Position

Supervises and directs team of PAs and/or Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for purposes of optimizing patient care and overseeing professional accountability and management of the designated team. The PA Supervisor engages as a liaison to PA practice to leadership, administration, nursing, and medical teams. Maintains clinical responsibility for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. Performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.

Requirements

  • Greater than 5 years' experience as clinical PA
  • Leadership/management skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for administrative clinical needs and human resource related activities for PA team
  • Completes OPPE/FPPE and Performance Appraisal evaluations in timely manner for PA teams
  • Optimizes PA role in designated clinical area for efficiency, effectiveness and options for billing/revenue potential
  • Develops, implements and maintains policies, standards and process for patient safety, quality, throughput, and overall patient care.
  • Participates and leads in interdisciplinary meetings to improve patient care, quality, safety and throughput
  • Oversees and manages PA staffing, attendance, recruitment and retention.
  • Facilitates onboarding and orientation of new PA staff hires.
  • Participates and/or leads in committees across hospital site and clinical area of hire
  • Contributes to the knowledge of clinical area of expertise through writing, teaching, research, and/or forma/informal presentations.
  • Engages in PA community in a leadership role, and active in PA activities for education, engagement, recognition and professional development across hospital sites and health system.
  • Promotes self-development and growth in a managerial and leadership role and maintains clinical expertise of designated clinical area.
  • Maintains required certifications and licensure as per Medical Staff policy and maintains active Mount Sinai Health System privileges as delegated by Medical Staff Services and Chair for the department of hire.
  • Promotes self-learning and maintenance of continued medical education (CME) requirements for board certification and practice of evidenced-based medicine.
  • Promotes a positive work environment.
