Physician Assistant – Neurosurgery
About The Position
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant to join its neurosurgery team. The PA will provide comprehensive care to patients with complex neurological and spine disorders in a collaborative clinical environment, working with four neurosurgeons and four advanced practice providers. The role includes outpatient clinic visits, in-hospital rounds, and assistance with neurosurgical procedures, as well as management of patients before, during, and after surgery. This is a full-time position scheduled five days per week, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with one weekend of neurosurgery call per month. Weekend call coverage is provided with an attending. The annual salary is $118,000–$128,000.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant in Illinois or eligible for licensure.
- Certified as a Physician Assistant.
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
Nice To Haves
- Surgical First Assist Certification.
- Experience in neurosurgery.

Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic testing for neurosurgery consults.
- Assist in the management of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative neurosurgery patients.
- Provide surgical first assist in the operating room for neurosurgery cases.
- Participate in outpatient clinic, in-hospital rounds, and weekend neurosurgery call coverage.
