About The Position

South Seattle Otolaryngology, a care center of Proliance Surgeons, is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Physician Assistant to join their team two days per week. This role is designed for a clinician who thrives in a fast-paced ambulatory environment and is passionate about providing outstanding care. The practice has proudly served the South Central Puget Sound region since 1963 and offers comprehensive ENT services, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and ancillary services including allergy, hearing aid/audiology, and CT imaging. The clinic was remodeled in 2021 and is located on the campus of St. Anne Hospital. The practice serves a medically diverse patient population and promotes a healthy work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Physician’s Assistant Program
  • Active, unencumbered Washington State Physician Assistant License
  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
  • Current Certification as a physician assistant by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current CPR and BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills required
  • Ability to listen, interact and communicate verbally and in writing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques, Standards of Care, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies as they directly correlate to the specialty.
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Great interpersonal skills; demonstrating patience, composure and cooperation; working well with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Advanced understanding of and adherence to all safety, risk management and precautionary procedures, including the consistent respect for confidentiality (HIPAA)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse panel of patients presenting with a broad range of ENT pathologies affecting the head and neck.
  • Interpret audiograms and diagnostic imaging.
  • Perform various in-office procedures.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care.
  • Assist in surgical procedures (depending on experience).
  • Greet/identify patient & complete and document an accurate history and physical examination of patients; may include moving and positioning patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develop patient care plans.
  • Order and interpret tests, treatments, and therapies, within the scope of practice.
  • Prescribe medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices, and other home health aides according to clinical privileges.
  • Administer and/or inject medications.
  • Perform wound care; apply or remove casting, splinting, wound dressing; suture and staple removal, etc.
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding the total treatment plan & therapeutic regimes.
  • Provide clear, concise, and accurate information regarding patient care in the medical record.
  • Obtain/maintain technical familiarity and proficiency for specific surgical procedures prior to their performance.
  • Remain proficient in the utilization of commonly used clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist in Surgical Procedures.
  • Perform hospital rounds, including patient care, charting & all paperwork/documentation, and interacting with the patient and family/caregivers, staff, consultants, and discharge planners.
  • Provide OPTIONAL primary or secondary trauma call coverage.
  • Provide OPTIONAL Emergency Room evaluations and treatment of patients.
  • Handle answering service coverage and responsibilities.
  • Initiate Basic/Advanced life support in response to emergency situations.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and significant others using established education materials.
  • Provide other clinical duties within the scope of practice as directed under a patient’s care plan.
  • Advocate for patients, families, co-workers, the community, and the health care profession.
  • Integrate evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision-making.
  • Seek experiences and formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge.
  • Establish an effective relationship with the supervising physician.
  • Complete duties and assist others as directed.
  • Follow all policies as introduced during new associate On-Boarding, updated real-time and outlined in Associate Handbook.
