About The Position

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) for the Emergency Medicine department. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited PA program with Masters of Doctoral Degree in Medical Science.
  • Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Current PALS or APLS required.
  • Current controlled substance licensure required.
  • Current National Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between physician, and PA providers as well as college and hospital leadership and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, interpersonal communication, education, clinical experience and change management required.
  • Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.

Nice To Haves

  • Having PA experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care settings is preferred.
  • All physician assistants caring for children in the emergency department and fast track/urgent care area shall have documentation of a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education in pediatric emergency topics every two years that are approved by an accrediting agency preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited PA program with Masters of Doctoral Degree in Medical Science.
  • Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
