About The Position

OrthoVirginia is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for its growing Ortho On-Call Urgent Care service. This position will join an exceptional team of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and sports medicine physicians, ensuring the continued delivery of quality care in a patient-focused setting. Ortho On-Call's walk-in urgent care clinics are specifically designed to treat acute orthopedic-related injuries and conditions, supported by the board-certified physicians and full-service therapies of OrthoVirginia. The successful candidate will be a qualified and compassionate provider licensed to treat all age ranges. The role offers a collaborative, team-oriented work environment in a friendly, caring setting where patients are treated with respect.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/Eligible
  • Active/current state medical license and eligible for a VA Medical License
  • DEA License
  • Ability to assess situations, resolve within scope of ability, or escalate as appropriate
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, actual events, or drills
  • Ability to follow instructions and make decisions with little supervision
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor in all aspects of role
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Sports injuries
  • Experience in Sprains & strains
  • Experience in Slips, trips, falls
  • Experience in Hand & wrist injuries
  • Experience in Foot & ankle injuries

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of orthopedic experience or practice in Emergency/Urgent Care clinical/hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages for immediate health care needs, as well as provide employer services.
  • Handle urgent care and emergency room responsibilities, including weekend and evening shifts.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Manage fracture/dislocation reductions, perform laceration repair, and administer joint injections.
  • Instruct patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, and medications.
  • Consult with physicians when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment plan.
  • Ensure that medical charts and administrative paperwork are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform within guidelines of specific privileges approved by the governing body and delegated by the Medical Director.
  • Provide support to medical and office staff.
  • Travel between facilities when indicated.
