About The Position

Under general supervision of a Physician the Physician Assistant provides high quality patient care consistent with his/her training and expertise. Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Administrations (HRSA). Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Valid and unrestricted California License issued by the Physician Assistant Board.
  • Current registration issued by the DEA allowing the prescription of drugs.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Sensitive to the needs and situations of a multi-cultural population from a variety of income levels.
  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Experience with NextGen EMR software a plus.
  • Proficiency in medical Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in Community Health desired.
  • Ability to work in fast paced health clinic environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and in team environment.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Examines patients and performs routine physical examinations.
  • Administers and orders requires tests.
  • Uses NextGen to maintain patient medical records.
  • Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, wound care and managing of infections.
  • Develops relationship with patients to implement patient management plans.
  • Communicates effectively with patients to provide quality care.
  • Participates in quality management activities as assigned by the Medical Director or Quality Assurance Director.
  • Demonstrates initiative and responsibility with quality management activities.
  • Participates in the direction and development of health care services provided by Marin Community Clinics as a member of the primary health care team.
  • Additional duties assigned based on specific specialty.
