The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 60% (24 hours a week) Physician Assistant (PA) to primarily support their Iowa City/Corridor Walk-In Clinics (Urgent Care/Quick Care Clinics). The Physician Assistant performs direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services. Within the Physician Assistant (PA)/Physician relationship, the PA will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The PA's will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate. UI Walk-in Clinics provide care to try to save patients a trip to the emergency room and are open evenings, weekends, and even some holidays. The clinics are responsible to assess a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met and provides access to additional care options not normally found at a traditional walk-in clinic, including X-rays, IV fluids, and stitches. This position is part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. They utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to patients. There are multiple clinics throughout the corridor area, as well as two locations in the Quad Cities, allowing patients to find a location that is convenient to them. This position reports to the Medical Director within the UI Healthcare Walk In Clinics and Lead APP within UI Community Clinics. This position will mainly support Iowa City/Corridor sites but could also support other service lines/clinics based on clinical needs/hours, including Quad Cities clinic sites.
