About The Position

Senior Helpers is hiring for part-time hourly positions including Licensed CHHA, Companion, and Licensed CNA. We are a growing company looking for amazing team members to join us. We are holding Walk-In Wednesdays at our new location: 351 Route 9, Manalapan, NJ 07726, between 9 AM and 3 PM. Please bring all necessary documents for I-9 verification and direct deposit information.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 76-hour certified homemaker-home health aide training program approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing (or a nursing student with a written New Jersey Board of Nursing waiver).
  • A current, valid homemaker-home health aide certificate in good standing issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to pass a written/oral competency examination with a minimum score of 70%.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency and clinical competencies related to the skills required of a certified homemaker-home health aide.
  • Ability to read, write, and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to follow the plan of care and the delegation/direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with the elderly, disabled, and sick.
  • Ability to work effectively with the demands of the job.
  • Flexibility with work hours and location.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of field work in client's homes.
  • Ability to meet health requirements in accordance with Agency policy for employees providing in-home client care.

  • Ability to perform standing, bending, twisting, stair climbing, lifting items, transferring clients, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stretching, stooping, walking up and down stairs, seeing, hearing, speaking, writing, and weight bearing activities.
  • Ability to work household appliances.
  • High School graduate (for Companion role).

Responsibilities

  • Perform personal care and activities of daily living in accordance with an established plan of care, including temperature, pulse, respirations, positioning, bathing, shampooing, nail and skin care, oral hygiene, personal hygiene related to toileting and elimination, safe transfer techniques and ambulation, assistive devices, normal range of motion and positioning exercises, and handwashing.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in communication skills, observation, reporting and documentation of client status, basic infection control procedures, basic elements of body functioning and changes in body function, maintenance of a clean and safe environment, recognizing emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures, understanding the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of clients, adequate nutrition and fluid intake, feeding, applying antiembolic stockings, assisting with oxygen, and positioning for comfort.
  • Provide care for clients with cognitive impairment, seizure disorders, post-stroke rehabilitation, and restorative care, including foot care, skin care, and nutrition for clients with diabetes, and promote sleep.
  • Perform homemaking tasks including meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, laundry, errands, changing bed linens, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors, dusting, emptying wastebaskets and garbage, cleaning the refrigerator, cleaning the bathroom, and cleaning the kitchen.
  • Accompany clients to doctor's appointments with approval from the Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor, upon family member request.
  • Follow Senior Helpers policies, including attendance, punctuality, dress code, professional appearance, wearing identification, accepting assignments, completing time sheets and weekly aide activity sheets, and meeting health and in-service requirements.
  • Report changes in client status to the Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor.
  • Respond to emergencies by calling 911 and Senior Helpers.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, socialization, and motivation through conversation, encouragement, and recreational activities.
  • Arrive to work on time.
  • Clock into the telephony system.
  • Respond to emails from Senior Helpers staff.
  • Maintain human resource (HR) compliance documentation.
  • Complete orientation, including GEMS Training Module 1 and Infection Control.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of Senior Helpers.
  • Perform any additional tasks, activities, or duties as assigned by Senior Helpers staff.
  • Provide caregiving services to help clients maintain independence and assist with household and family support services as a Companion.
  • Engage in companionship and conversation.
  • Perform light housekeeping.
  • Assist with household management.
  • Run errands.
  • Assist with apparel selection.
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation.
  • Perform laundry and linen changing.
  • Provide medication reminders.
  • Provide transportation using the client's or your own vehicle.
  • Prepare client sleeping area in sleep-over or live-in situations.
  • Document activities in the Daily Documentation Log (if applicable).
  • Record daily hours worked and services performed on the Weekly Time Sheet, review with client, and submit the signed form every Monday by 1:00 p.m.
  • Report any significant client changes to the office immediately.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Senior Helpers Employee Handbook and Training Manual.
