About The Position

The Physician Assistant performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. The position also participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs, ARC-PA).
• Current New York State Department of Education license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care, and follow up to ensure patients are fully screened and prepared.
• Perform daily patient rounds.
• Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
• Interpret laboratory and test results.
• Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to support quality patient care.
• Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts.
• Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
• Perform related duties as required.
