About The Position

UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) to join its dynamic Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a Nocturnist. This role is crucial for providing advanced overnight surgical and trauma care within a leading high-acuity medical center. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for a full spectrum of trauma and acute care surgical services during overnight shifts, managing trauma admissions, emergency general surgery, and inpatient care. This includes performing evaluations, developing care plans, interpreting diagnostic tests, assisting trauma surgeons with procedures and resuscitation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires proficiency in Epic EMR documentation, autonomous practice, and the ability to handle multiple complex tasks. The PA will also support quality, safety, and performance metrics of the Trauma Surgery service and may engage in professional development and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master’s degree in PA Studies
  • NCCPA Certified
  • Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active)
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado
  • Must be eligible for DEA and Medicare/Medicaid provider status
  • Must have no sanctions/exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA
  • Must hold BLS (note in "Additional Submission Details" field)

Nice To Haves

  • Clean malpractice/license history
  • 2 years of trauma surgery experience preferred OR completion of surgical fellowship

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-spectrum trauma and acute care surgical services during overnight shifts.
  • Manage trauma admissions, emergency general surgery, and inpatient care.
  • Perform evaluations, develop care plans, and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Assist trauma surgeons with procedures, resuscitation, and operative support.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Maintain all documentation and clinical workflows in Epic EMR.
  • Practice autonomously and handle multiple complex tasks appropriately.
  • Support quality, safety, and performance metrics of the Trauma Surgery service.
  • Engage in professional development and potential leadership opportunities via UCHealth OAP.
