About The Position

The Physician Practice Physician Assistant is a licensed physician assistant responsible for the assessment and management of patients in a physician practice setting. Responsibilities include physician-specific ambulatory management, which may extend beyond the office setting to include hospital rounding, perioperative, and postoperative patient management, requiring hospital credentialing by the Medical Board. The role is essential for promoting a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation, and respect for patients, visitors, and the healthcare team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program
  • Active license in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut (Based on Position’s Location/Physician’s sessional time)
  • Current NCCPA certification, including 100 hours of continuing medical education logged every 2 years and recertification taken and successfully passed every 6-10 years
  • Current Infection Control Certificate
  • Completion of child abuse recognition course
  • ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • DEA license
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in outpatient or ambulatory setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Critical thinking, in-depth experience, professional knowledge in area of specialty; updated on the latest new, trends, and treatments.
  • Time management/organization: handles and effectively manages a daily caseload; experience with varied work schedule (flexibility); adaptable
  • Collaboration and teamwork: collaborate with clinical colleagues (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs) for advisement when necessary; develop and coordinate appropriate plan of care
  • Interpersonal: confident, works well under pressure, responsible, caring, sympathetic and compassionate

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in musculoskeletal/orthopedic practice preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EPIC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and management of patients in the physician practice setting.
