About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA), under the direction of the Medical Director and the onsite Supervising Physician provides and coordinates direct patient care and may act as a first assistant to the supervising surgeon. The PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative healthcare service, as delegated by a physician. The PA will report to the Director and Program Development for all employee/employer issues regarding departmental and organizational operations. The PA consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Health and serves as a role model to other employees.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a PA educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC) on Education for Physician Assistants (or its predecessor agency) OR current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current California Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA), if not a graduate from an accredited ARC Physician Assistant educational program
  • Current CPR recognition
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
  • Meets Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to bill Medicare
  • Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff Office and Finance Office
  • Confidence and experience to work independently with diverse patient populations
  • Experience in accessing specialty referrals and community resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job

Nice To Haves

  • Recent General/Colorectal/Surgical and/or Trauma Clinical experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • One year clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an acute care facility
