Physician Assistant Pulmonology
About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our established Pulmonary team in a rewarding outpatient-focused role. This position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with no call responsibilities, no weekends, and no holidays. You will have 35 hours of patient-facing time each week, caring for a mix of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine patients. You will work alongside a highly supportive group of physicians and APPs, enjoying an excellent team culture with strong collaboration and mentorship. Requirements
- Physician Assistant | National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
- Physician Assistant | North Dakota Board of Medicine | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
- Physician Assistant | Minnesota Board of Medical Practice | Within 2 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources
- Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record | Driver's License - Current State Licensed | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
- Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System
- A minimum of 1 year Related Experience
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.

Responsibilities
- Provides patient/patient’s family with appropriate education based on the patient’s condition and identifies needs in order to optimize understanding.
- Provides health maintenance and disease management counseling to patients.
- Obtains comprehensive medical histories, performs physical examinations/assessments and initiates admission orders as appropriate.
- Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance for the Altru Health System, the community and region.
- Provides medical management and/or other interventions for acute and chronic health problems.
- Performs invasive, life-saving bedside procedures.
- Conducts daily rounds, review diagnostic tests, and formulate personalized treatments plans with multidisciplinary approach.
- Performs endoscopy-based procedures to diagnose and treat airway and pleural diseases.
- Writes orders for prescription medication under the established protocol.
- Orders and interprets lab studies and diagnostic tests to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment as appropriate.
- Notifies patients promptly of test results.
- Collaborates with physicians, as necessary, to verify diagnosis, identify high-risk situations, or alerts to changes in patient’s status and takes appropriate action.
- Serves as a liaison and a resource for physician, health care team members, patients and families.
- Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
