Join a Supportive, Collaborative Pulmonary Team! We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our established Pulmonary team in a rewarding outpatient-focused role. Requirements

  • Physician Assistant | National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Physician Assistant | North Dakota Board of Medicine | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Physician Assistant | Minnesota Board of Medical Practice | Within 2 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record | Driver's License - Current State Licensed | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System
  • A minimum of 1 year Related Experience
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient/patient’s family with appropriate education based on the patient’s condition and identifies needs in order to optimize understanding.
  • Provides health maintenance and disease management counseling to patients.
  • Obtains comprehensive medical histories, performs physical examinations/assessments and initiates admission orders as appropriate.
  • Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance for the Altru Health System, the community and region.
  • Provides medical management and/or other interventions for acute and chronic health problems.
  • Performs invasive, life-saving bedside procedures
  • Conducts daily rounds, review diagnostic tests, and formulate personalized treatments plans with multidisciplinary approach.
  • Performs endoscopy-based procedures to diagnose and treat airway and pleural diseases.
  • Writes orders for prescription medication under the established protocol.
  • Orders and interprets lab studies and diagnostic tests to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment as appropriate.
  • Notifies patients promptly of test results.
  • Collaborates with physicians, as necessary, to verify diagnosis, identify high-risk situations, or alerts to changes in patient’s status and takes appropriate action.
  • Serves as a liaison and a resource for physician, health care team members, patients and families.
  • Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
