About The Position

Physician Assistants (PAs) are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. Common services provided by PAs include taking medical histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and interpreting lab tests; diagnosing and treating illnesses; prescribing medications and counseling patients. PAs work autonomously and also in collaboration with physicians and other health care team members. For purposes of the OMH Medical Staff By-laws, Physician Assistants are considered dependent-practice allied health professionals and are credentialed through medical staff processes.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician Assistant Program
• Current unrestricted license to practice as PA in North Carolina
• Maintains national certification
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Credentialed privileges per medical staff
• Designated supervising physician per NCBOM
