About The Position

Join an established and growing Family Medicine team in the heart of Temple, Texas. This is a new graduate-friendly position with extensive onboarding and mentorship, offering structured transition-to-practice support for 12–18 months. Additional mentorship is provided through an Enhanced Care Team (ECT) model, monthly APP meetings, monthly 1:1 meetings with the supervising physician, and the ThriveAP training program, which includes dedicated onboarding and learning modules. The position features a Monday–Friday clinic schedule with one Saturday rotation approximately every 2 months. Flexible scheduling opportunities are available after training, including early/late start options and a potential 4x10 schedule. There are no hospital rounding or inpatient responsibilities. The clinical practice involves an average patient volume of approximately 18 patients per day, covering broad-spectrum Family Medicine including new patient visits, follow-up appointments, acute care visits, chronic disease management, and preventive care. There is an opportunity to perform procedures such as Pap smears, incision & drainage (I&D), shave biopsies, toenail removals, and joint and soft tissue injections. The team utilizes an Enhanced Care Team (ECT) practice model with dedicated Medical Assistant support, LVN and RN support available, and shared Patient Service Specialist support. On-site radiology and point-of-care lab services are available. The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider who provides direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. These providers typically provide care to patients in an internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Physician Assistants (PA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories.
  • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
  • Creates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards. Collaborates with physicians and team members when needed.
  • Evaluates patient’s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects. Discusses interactions with substances like food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
  • Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise.
  • Provide consultation level services for conditions /problems related to the Provider’s specialty and training.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising Physician.
  • May provide care to patients in a team-based model. Focus on acute and chronic illness management and population health.
