About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Physician Assistant - Pre-Anesthesia to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Kings County Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center serving Brooklyn and Staten Island, with an academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. This role involves conducting pre-anesthesia assessments, ordering and reviewing tests, performing medication reconciliation, identifying clinical concerns, coordinating consultations, and providing patient education. The position also requires collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to support quality and safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Current Physician Assistant NYS registration
• Current certification issued by the NCCPA
• DEA Certification

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, including patient history and physical exams.
• Order and review labs, EKGs, imaging, and other pre-procedural testing.
• Perform medication reconciliation and make appropriate medication adjustments.
• Identify clinical concerns and coordinate specialist consultations, medical optimization, and pre-procedural clearance.
• Provide patient education, prescriptions, and pre-procedure instructions while coordinating interpreter services, as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
