About The Position

The South Bend Clinic's Orthopedics team is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join their collaborative team. This role will help expand high-quality care and continue serving patients with expertise and dedication. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in Orthopedics as a licensed Advanced Practice Provider, but new graduates are encouraged to apply. The South Bend Clinic is committed to patient-centered, physician-led care and joined Duly Health and Care in 2021 to further its mission of improving healthcare in the Michiana community.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • National certification in the applicable specialty (ANCC).
  • Current state licensure as Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse and RN in the state of Indiana.
  • Maintains current CPR (BLS) certification.
  • Active Mid-level Practitioner Controlled Substance License and DEA License may be required based on prescriptive authority.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive in multi-tasking and time management skills while ensuring patient care at a high level.
  • Detail-oriented in maintaining patient-related information and documenting patient progress.
  • Exceptional patient interaction demonstrating a friendly, approachable demeanor, effectively resolves customer complaints, and applies strong customer service principles to ensure a positive experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years experience in Orthopedics as a licensed Advanced Practice Provider.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive skin examinations, conduct and interpret diagnostic testing, develop care plans.
  • Order diagnostic testing, skin biopsies, laboratory, x-ray, and/or other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Initiate collaboration with supervising physicians, referrals to appropriate physicians or other health care professionals of problems that exceed the NPs scope of practice.
  • Maintain communication with referring physicians while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Prescribe medications within scope of practice, with collaborative physician oversight and necessary mid-level practitioner-controlled substance license.
  • Counsel patients on conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures, adjusting communication to the patient's age, psycho-social, and cultural needs to achieve optimal health outcomes in accordance with practice protocols.
