Requirements

Completion of an accredited education program for PAs
Previous correctional/detention facility experience
Minimum two (2) years’ experience
Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice
Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA

Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under the supervision of medical leadership.
Evaluates and treats acute and emergency complaints.
Participates in administrative meetings.
Supports cross-coverage needs.
Collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensuring clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols.
Maintains patient privacy.
Contributes to quality improvement activities.
Involves emergency care coordination.
Provides psychiatric assessment support.
Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols.
Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated.
Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts.
Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments.
