Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - Waco, TX (Hillcrest)
About The Position
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our Waco – Hillcrest clinic. This role is a great fit for a clinician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and meaningful patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. At NextCare, you will treat patients of all ages while being supported by experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership. Our full-time schedule is designed with work-life balance in mind. Providers typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, with no after-hours work and schedules released in advance.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- PA: NCCPA certification
- NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
- Active DEA license or ability to obtain
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
- DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy
Nice To Haves
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D
- Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
- Comfortable working independently in a busy urgent care environment
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, I&D, and other procedures as applicable
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values
