Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner | San Antonio
About The Position
We are seeking a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in San Antonio, TX. This role is ideal for a clinician who values variety, autonomy, and meaningful patient care in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment. Part-time clinicians are asked to work a minimum of 4 shifts per month, with opportunities to cover additional shifts when needed. Schedules are built in advance based on clinic needs and provider availability. Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas NP or PA license
- NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
- PA: NCCPA certification
- Active DEA license, or ability to obtain
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
- DOT certification required or willingness to obtain
Nice To Haves
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
- Comfort practicing independently in a fast-paced setting
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, and other procedures as applicable
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values
