About The Position

Corewell Health's Women's Health Service Line is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work on our Women's Health and Wellness Center team, focusing on midlife, menopause, and sexual health. This is a part-time position (24 hours per week), outpatient role with no holiday or nights expectations. Call is 1:4 and phone call only. The role involves managing patients and coordinating services, maintaining a collaborative practice agreement with physicians, and exercising independent judgment in assessment, diagnosis, and initiating protocols. Responsibilities include providing educational support, coordinating QA/QI studies, writing orders/prescriptions, obtaining histories, performing physical exams, assessing educational needs, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulations, delivering culturally sensitive care, acting as a patient advocate, communicating and collaborating with the healthcare team, performing and assisting with designated procedures, documenting in the medical record, and providing input into strategic planning and service evaluation.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a provider in Women's Health, OB/GYN, or Family Practice.
• Master's Degree Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
• 3 years of relevant experience.
• Current, relevant clinical experience.
• Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role.
• Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan License Upon Hire.
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan License Upon Hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification within 90 Days.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association certification within 120 Days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association certification Upon Hire.

Nice To Haves

• North American Menopause Society Certification (NAMS) is required within one year of hire.
• Interest in Sexual Health certifications are ideal but not required to start.
• Experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients and coordinate services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system.
• Maintain a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s).
• Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures.
• Provide educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community.
• Coordinate QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.
• Coordinate comprehensive care delivery.
• Write orders/prescriptions for standard formulary medications, laboratory, radiographic studies and consultations.
• Coordinate the scheduling of admissions, diagnostic evaluations, follow-up exams, laboratory tests, referrals to home care, social services, and other community agencies.
• Obtain histories and perform physical exams.
• Assess the patient’s/significant other’s, health care team’s, school’s and other community educational needs and develops, implements, evaluates and revises teaching strategies/educational programs related to area of specialty.
• Ensure that operations are in compliance with professional standards, applicable laws, accreditation, compliance/regulatory requirements and that organizational goals are being followed.
• Practice in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code.
• Deliver care in a manner that is culturally sensitive and preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Act as a patient advocate, crossing multidisciplinary lines to meet patient needs.
• Communicate, collaborate, network with and act as a consultant to other members of the health care team within and outside Corewell Health.
• Act as a consult in area of expertise.
• Perform and assist with designated procedures.
• Document in the medical record and dictate information as appropriate.
• Provide input into the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of service/program.
• Measure the outcomes of care and evaluate services across the continuum of inpatient to outpatient services.
• Make recommendations to improve the quality of patient care provided and utilizes the scientific method to research clinical problems.
• Perform endometrial biopsies, IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, and vulvar biopsies.
