Marshfield Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our established subspecialty-based system-wide Department of Radiology in Iron Mountain, Michigan. This NP/PA will work exclusively in the body imaging section. Schedule is a shift-based model Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, including covering about 1:10 weekend shifts. Evenings and nights are covered allowing for work/life balance! The Diagnostic Radiology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care in collaboration with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. The NP supports diagnostic imaging procedures by assessing, monitoring, educating, and managing patients throughout their radiologic care journey. This role focuses on pre-procedural evaluation, procedural support (e.g., contrast reactions), and post-procedural follow-up for radiology-related interventions and diagnostic studies.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
• National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP)
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
• Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.

• Prior experience in radiology, acute care, or procedural settings preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive health assessments of patients referred to diagnostic radiology services.
• Obtain relevant patient histories and physical exams in preparation for imaging procedures (e.g., CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, angiography).
• Review laboratory data and imaging studies to ensure patient safety prior to procedures involving contrast, sedation, or interventional techniques.
• Provide pre- and post-procedural care, including managing moderate sedation protocols and monitoring for contrast-related adverse events.
• Educate patients and families regarding imaging procedures, expected outcomes, and post-procedural instructions.
• Respond to contrast reactions or complications during imaging, in collaboration with radiology staff and emergency teams.
• Document all patient interactions, evaluations, and follow-up care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary team meetings related to radiology services.
• Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, nurses, and referring providers to optimize patient care.
