About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive patient care within an orthopedic setting. Responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations, assisting in surgical procedures, developing treatment plans, performing various medical procedures, educating patients and families, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, maintaining medical records, and participating in on-call rotations for urgent cases.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Board certification or eligibility.
  • Experience in orthopedics preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency in performing orthopedic procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in surgical assistance.
  • Experience with patient education and counseling.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments for orthopedic injuries and conditions.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative care in the operating room.
  • Develop, implement, and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Perform joint injections, aspirations, fracture reductions, casting, splinting, and other procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, post-operative instructions, and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and radiologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in shared call rotations, responding to urgent and emergent orthopedic cases.
