About The Position

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Staff or Senior Full-Time Physician Assistant or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support UPMC Sports Medicine. The role involves performing comprehensive musculoskeletal exams, managing an independent clinic schedule (new evaluations, follow-ups, post-operative care, injections), and providing operative support in the OR. The team of sports medicine specialists provides comprehensive adult and pediatric services. As faculty at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine, the physicians are leaders in innovating surgical techniques and treatments for sports medicine injuries and disorders. A PA or NP on this team can anticipate spending 1-2 days per week in the OR as a first assist and 3-4 days working in the outpatient clinic, including holding your own autonomous clinic.

Requirements

Proficient in performing comprehensive musculoskeletal exams of the shoulder, elbow/wrist, hip, knee, and ankle.
Confident managing an independent clinic schedule, including new evaluations, follow-up visits for new concerns, post-operative care, and administering injections, while also providing operative support in the OR.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Current CPR certification is required.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Act 33 Clearance will be required.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Act 73 Clearance will be required.
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Act 34 Clearance required.
Physician Assistant (PA): A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
Physician Assistant (PA): Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
Physician Assistant (PA): Current CPR certification is required.
Physician Assistant (PA): Act 33 Clearance will be required.
Physician Assistant (PA): Act 73 Clearance will be required.
Physician Assistant (PA): Act 34 Clearance required.
Senior Level: Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency.
Senior Level: The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or a graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is required.
Senior Level: Completion of National Certification.
Senior Level: Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually.
Senior Level: Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.
Senior Level: Must have department chair approval for promotion.
Senior Level: ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS or ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant, and value added to the practice setting.

Nice To Haves

BSN, MSN is preferred for CRNP.
Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred for CRNP.
BS or MS candidate is preferred for PA.
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred for PA.
